Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

A new community for workers involved in the fourth-phase expansion of Shanghai Pudong International Airport opened on Aug 6, providing a more comfortable and supportive living environment for those working on the major aviation hub project.

Jointly planned and developed by Shanghai Airport Authority (AVINEX) and eight project contractors, the community covers around 120,000 square meters. More than 1,000 workers have already moved in, while the facility can accommodate up to 4,000 people.
The new community is an upgraded version of the airport's first workers' community, which opened in 2023. It features improved accommodation, more comprehensive services, and a more integrated community management model.

The residential area mainly provides four-person rooms equipped with air conditioning and storage facilities, while dedicated rooms are also available for couples. A one-stop service area offers affordable dining, supermarkets, leisure facilities and everyday services. Workers can also enjoy sports and cultural activities after work, while regular holiday events, skills competitions and heat-relief initiatives provide additional support.
The community has also established a joint governance mechanism involving Shanghai Airport, government departments, police and the eight participating contractors. A dedicated police service station further strengthens security and dispute-resolution services.
As a supporting facility for the Pudong Airport expansion, the community reflects Shanghai's efforts to improve the wellbeing of construction workers while they contribute to the city's international aviation hub.
