Shanghai Pudong International Airport has introduced a range of upgraded passenger services for the busy summer peak, offering smoother, more comfortable journeys for families, transfer passengers and other travelers.

To better support family travel, Pudong Airport has expanded its assistance program for unaccompanied young travelers, extending reservation-based escort services to passengers aged 13 to 16 who travel independently.

Dedicated family-friendly security checkpoints, children's activity materials and enhanced medical support - including a seamless emergency transfer mechanism developed with a leading children's hospital - help provide greater peace of mind for parents and young passengers.

The airport has also introduced new measures to improve travel efficiency. Estimated waiting times are now displayed in check-in areas, while processing times for check-in, security screening, transfers and baggage claim are published through the airport's digital platforms.

Upgraded self-service transfer gates at Terminal 1 simplify international transit by combining document verification and facial recognition, while enhanced ride-hailing services provide real-time vehicle location updates and indoor navigation to designated pick-up points.

To make waiting more enjoyable, Pudong Airport has expanded rest facilities with reclining seats, sleep pods and overnight lounges, together with 24-hour convenience services, charging facilities and seasonal shopping and dining promotions, creating a more relaxing airport experience throughout the summer travel season.
