Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Shanghai Airport Authority (AVINEX) expanded its cross-airline and cross-terminal transfer service at Shanghai Pudong International Airport on June 16 in cooperation with China Eastern Airlines and Juneyao Air, further improving transfer efficiency across the hub.

The upgraded service adds four domestic cities — Zhengzhou, Changsha, Xiamen, and Lanzhou — while expanding international transfer coverage through Pudong Airport to destinations including New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, San Francisco, Toronto, Auckland, and Brussels.
Passengers traveling from the designated domestic cities to eligible international destinations served by the two airlines can complete cross-airline check-in and baggage through-check-in at their departure airport, without needing to collect and re-check luggage during transfer.
The service streamlines the transfer process through one-time check-in and baggage handling, reducing transfer procedures and improving connectivity between terminals for transit passengers at the airport.

Pudong Airport launched China's first cross-airline and cross-terminal transfer service in cooperation with the two carriers on April 30, supported by relevant inspection authorities and airport police to ensure coordinated implementation.
Since the pilot launch, the service has operated smoothly and received positive feedback from passengers, prompting further system upgrades and process optimization to support the expanded network.
The initiative aligns with the Civil Aviation Administration of China's "air network connectivity" framework and further strengthens Pudong Airport's position as a leading international aviation hub.
According to AVINEX, Shanghai Pudong International Airport handled 13.75 million transfer passengers in 2025, with the transfer rate reaching 16.2 percent.
