Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Shanghai's airports handled 3.66 million passengers during this year's Spring Festival holiday, with 2.38 million at Shanghai Pudong International Airport and 1.28 million at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, averaging 407,000 daily travelers, up 5.5 percent year-on-year.

A total of 22,000 flights operated over the holiday: 15,000 at Pudong Airport and 7,000 at Hongqiao Airport, averaging 2,409 daily flights, up 3.1 percent year-on-year.

Daily passenger numbers reached 425,000 on Feb 20, 431,000 on Feb 21, and 438,000 on Feb 22, setting consecutive records, with peak outbound traffic occurring on Feb 13 at 215,000 passengers, and peak inbound on Feb 23 at 231,000.

Shanghai's airports promoted festive decorations and activities aligned with citywide campaigns, including the Spring Festival consumption season and the global food fair, as more than 10 themed performances and interactive events combined cultural, commercial, and leisure experiences for travelers.

Passenger services were also optimized throughout the travel process, offering discounts, promotions, and immersive festive experiences, reinforcing Shanghai's role as a key holiday travel hub.
