Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)
Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Shanghai airports handled a record 424,900 passenger trips on Feb 20, marking a strong start to the new year. The figure rose 6.4 percent year on year, setting a new single day high for the city.
Shanghai Pudong International Airport served 275,700 passengers, while Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport handled 149,200. The total indicates strong travel demand across domestic and international routes.
Since the Spring Festival travel period began on Feb 2, the two airports handled more than 46,000 flights, up 2.7 percent from last year. Passenger throughput reached 7.434 million, up 3.8 percent from the same period in 2025.
Pudong Airport accounted for 31,000 flights and 4.806 million passengers, while Hongqiao Airport handled 15,000 flights and 2.628 million passengers. The data showed balanced growth between the city's international and domestic hubs during the holiday season.
Passenger traffic increased in line with China's expanded visa-free policies, which now include destinations like Canada and the UK. This growth also reflects the ongoing popularity of outbound and inbound tourism, winter sports trips in the north, and travel to warm destinations in the south.
Shanghai airports strengthened operations throughout the travel period, optimizing peak-hour resource allocation, improving service efficiency, and providing festive decorations and passenger assistance measures to ensure safe, convenient, and comfortable journeys.
