Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Pudong Airport brings New Year atmosphere

As China expanded its visa free entry policies to include Canada and the United Kingdom, an increasing number of foreign visitors began choosing Shanghai for sightseeing, family visits, and Chinese New Year festivities. In response, Shanghai Pudong International Airport decorated its terminals to enhance the celebratory mood.

The airport coordinated with citywide campaigns, including the Spring Festival consumption season and the global food fair, integrating cultural, commercial, tourism, and exhibition activities to offer visitors a lively and immersive New Year experience.

Seasonal decorations included a carousel lantern, archways, over 3,300 lanterns, 1,500 decorative knots, and Chinese "Fu" characters. Red boarding passes and miniature horse plush toys at baggage claim added a playful, festive touch for arriving passengers.

From Feb 11 to 14, a series of cultural performances and interactive activities were held, including lion dances, Sichuan face-changing shows, traditional music, intangible cultural heritage experiences, and calligraphy blessings. A "hanfu" parade on Feb 14 was a highlight.

Commercial offers included dining promotions with discounts starting at 20 percent, as well as tiered duty-free store promotions. Pop-up stores and traditional gift boxes provided souvenirs for travelers.

Passengers could also enjoy payment-based promotions. Pudong Airport partnered with Shanghai Bank and China Guangfa Bank. International visitors using Alipay+ could claim 80-yuan ($11.68) coupon packages and airport-exclusive gift bags, enhancing the festive travel experience.
