Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)
Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Shanghai airports posted record performance in 2025, handling more than 135 million passenger trips and 4.5 million metric tons of cargo and mail, marking historic highs across all three core transport indicators.
Total aircraft movements reached approximately 839,000, up 4.5 percent year-on-year, while passenger throughput rose 8.3 percent. Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport surpassed 50 million passengers for the first time.
Cargo and mail throughput climbed 7.9 percent to 4.5 million tons, underscoring Shanghai's strengthening role as a global aviation and logistics hub linking international markets and supply chains.
The milestones were announced as the final flight of 2025 landed at Shanghai Pudong International Airport, concluding a year of transport operations supported by frontline staff members who had worked through winter conditions to ensure safety and efficiency.
The airport operator reports that Pudong Airport achieved its 26th consecutive year of safe operations, while Hongqiao Airport recorded its 38th, reflecting sustained safety management amid growing traffic volumes and increasingly complex hub operations.
