As exhibits for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) began arriving in early October, precision instruments, jewelry, fragrances, wine, and cold-chain products such as honey and ice cream were air-shipped from multiple countries.

Shanghai Airport Authority improved logistics procedures by leveraging past experience to make customs clearance and delivery faster, safer, and more efficient, strengthening airfreight support for the CIIE’s aim to improve and endure.

At Shanghai Pudong International Airport's cargo terminal, Shanghai Airport Authority Logistics Development Co partnered with China Eastern Air Logistics Co and Customs to launch 24-hour green-channel services featuring dedicated lanes, counters, vehicles, and teams, prioritizing sorting, inspection, and pickup.

Dedicated lanes were set up in the sorting, storage, dispatch, and documentation areas. For exhibits not pre-registered, staff prioritized handling after confirming the CIIE identity. A 200-kilogram carbon-capture model from Helsinki was cleared and retrieved within hours.

The Aviport information platform consolidates data from Customs, the airport, e-port, and cargo terminals to provide a comprehensive cargo tracking system. Import clearance now takes only 30 minutes. To date, 23 batches amounting to 6.4 metric tons have arrived from countries including the United States, Italy, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.
