Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Shanghai hosts 2025 North Bund International Aviation Forum

The 2025 North Bund International Aviation Forum opened in Shanghai on Oct 19, bringing together officials, experts, and industry leaders worldwide to discuss innovation and sustainability in global shipping and aviation.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Transport and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, the event centers on the theme of working together for sustainable global shipping and aviation. It features a main forum, two sub-forums, and more than 10 special sessions.

At the aviation forum themed "Innovation & Intelligence: Shipping Aviation's Next Era", China Eastern Air Holding Co (CEAH) and Shanghai Airport Authority (AVINEX), co-organizers for the fifth consecutive year, revealed key initiatives to strengthen Shanghai's role as an international air-hub city.

Amid the global transformation of aviation toward digitalization, intelligence, and sustainability, experts discussed new air-network strategies. Meanwhile, CEAH and AVINEX showcased innovations combining aviation and tourism, including AI-powered travel services, digital assistants, and the new "China Pass", a multi-benefit card for inbound travelers.

CEAH has expanded its passenger-and-cargo network, launching 23 new international routes since 2024 and now serving 36 destinations on six continents. Meanwhile, AVINEX unveiled the brand "Shanghai Connect: Effortless & Efficient" to improve transfer efficiency and the overall traveler experience at Pudong and Hongqiao airports.

Officials said that Shanghai's aviation sector is undergoing a key transformation phase. In 2024, CEAH managed 8.35 million international transfer passengers at Pudong Airport, accounting for 80.9 percent of the total at the airport, marking a 26.8 percent increase year-on-year in the first half of 2025.

The forum also initiated efforts in sustainable aviation fuel, digital innovation, and smart-chain ecosystems, demonstrating Shanghai's goal to promote green and intelligent transportation development through global collaboration.
