Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)

Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

New Shanghai-Kumamoto flight expands travel options to Japan
Released:2025-07-18

At 11:53 am on July 11, China Eastern Airlines flight MU253 took off from Shanghai Pudong International Airport — marking the inauguration of the direct flight from Shanghai to Kumamoto city, on Kyushu Island in Japan.

The new route will boost connectivity between the two regions, offering travelers a convenient option to explore the scenic and cultural attractions of Kumamoto.

Operated by China Eastern Airlines using an Airbus A320, the route will initially run three times a week — on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday — until Aug 19.

The flight departs Shanghai at 10:50 am Beijing time, arriving in Kumamoto at 2:00 pm local time. The return journey leaves Kumamoto at 3:00 pm local time, reaching Shanghai at 4:10 pm Beijing time. From Aug 20, the schedule will be adjusted to operate on Tuesdays and Fridays.

With the addition of this route, Shanghai now offers direct flights to 22 destinations in Japan — with over 1,200 weekly flights operated by 10 airlines, including China Southern Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines.

The expansion is said to provide travelers with more options, especially during the holiday season.

This year, Shanghai has already opened new international routes to Geneva, Shymkent, Almaty and Tashkent, further strengthening its global connectivity.
