Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Shanghai's airports hit new records on Aug 11, handling a total of 2,386 flights and 397,000 passengers in a single day.
According to the Shanghai Airport Authority, Shanghai Pudong International Airport handled 1,597 flights and 254,000 passengers, while Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport managed 789 flights and 143,000 passengers. Both figures represent historic highs for single-day operations and passenger numbers.
The summer travel season, driven by tourist and student traffic, has significantly boosted flights and passenger volumes. From July 1 to Aug 11, Shanghai's airports collectively managed 96,000 flights, with Pudong Airport handling 65,000 and Hongqiao Airport 31,000. This averages to 2,293 flights per day, a 10.1 percent increase from the previous year. There were a total of 15.34 million passengers, with Pudong Airport serving 9.74 million and Hongqiao Airport 5.6 million, an 18.2 percent year-on-year rise.
To accommodate the summer rush, Shanghai's airports have upgraded their facilities and services. One-stop service centers and entry facilitation points at both airports offer comprehensive services for payment, inquiries, communication, and transportation.
Additionally, the city's airports have launched a two-month "Culture + Commerce + Service" series as part of the Shanghai Summer International Consumption Season and its cultural brand "China Young". This includes commercial promotions and weekly cultural performances, providing engaging and family-friendly experiences for passengers.
Special services for families, elderly passengers, and first-time flyers include free wheelchair services and priority assistance. Unaccompanied minors receive dedicated support from check-in to boarding. Temporary rest areas and additional staff during peak times ensure a comfortable travel experience.
