Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights

To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. (For details, please visit the official website of the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center at www.samrdprc.org.cn/xfpzh/xfpgnzh)

Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Shopping guide at Pudong airport gets interactive
Released:2019-06-18

Shanghai Pudong International Airport has installed 10 freestanding multi-touch information kiosks that serve as multifunction information centers for passengers and advertising portals for shop tenants at the airport.

The kiosks are distributed around T1 and T2 terminals, domestic and international departure halls, and transport hubs where passengers gather. They are well placed to provide an interactive store directory, including availability information on items inside the stores.

Passengers can simply walk up to the digital display and start tapping, finding out the location of stores and other information including business hours, recommended products and special offers. With a multiscreen setup, the facility allows simultaneous operation during rush hours.

In addition, the kiosk is equipped with a positioning navigation system which quickly helps plan the optimal route for passengers to save them time, and 3D holography technology provides dynamic visual guidance.

At the same time, some shops at Shanghai Pudong International Airport open 24-7 to meet the needs of passengers waiting at different times of the day. In the future, the airport will continue to optimize its commercial layout and create a cluster of famous brands, aiming to become “the best in the country and internationally excellent”.

In addition to the new measures that greatly enhance shopping experience, the newly added baggage self-service consignment area that was put into use on May 28 at the north check-in island of Terminal 1 also brings tremendous convenience for passengers.

The airport has added eight self-service baggage check-in terminals and 22 self-service baggage check-in terminals. They serve China Eastern Airlines passengers and save them time.

According to a staff member, the equipment adopts 3D scanning, intrusion detection and other technologies. It also uses a two-stop aviation application system, newly developed by China TravelSky Holding Co Ltd, to support self-service airport check-in and baggage check-in.

Specifically, passengers boarding China Eastern Airlines domestic flights only need to complete self-service check-in and attach baggage tags at the first-stop terminal, and then place their baggage on the second-stop terminal with valid ID. Baggage weighing, scanning, security check, printing baggage receipts and other steps will be completed automatically. The entire process takes only one minute.
