Civil Aviation Administration of China: Power banks without 3C certification or recalled models banned on domestic flights
To ensure the safety of aviation operations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China has issued an urgent notice. Starting June 28, passengers are prohibited from carrying power banks that lack a 3C certification label, have unclear 3C labeling, or belong to recalled models or batches on domestic flights. Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport will enforce the requirements of this notice to ensure passenger safety. We kindly ask all passengers to comply with this notice by carefully checking the certification label, brand, and model of your power banks before traveling. Please do not bring non-compliant power banks on board. Remove your power bank before security checks to prevent travel delays.

Smargo, a joint venture of AVINEX Logistics (Shanghai Airport Authority Logistics Development) and China Eastern Airlines Logistics Co, has entered into an operations and management agreement with Swissport International AG to jointly operate the new smart cargo terminal at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The signing ceremony on Oct 21 was attended by senior executives from AVINEX, China Eastern Airlines, and Swissport, marking a key step in strengthening Shanghai's international air logistics capabilities.

The terminal, part of Shanghai Pudong International Airport's fourth-phase expansion, is a key freight infrastructure project scheduled to begin operations by the end of the year. Its purpose is to strengthen Shanghai's role as a global aviation center and boost cross-border cargo connections for international trade.
Founded in 1996, Swissport operates at over 279 airports worldwide, serving over 850 airline clients. Using Swissport's global expertise in cargo management, automation, and process optimization, the partnership aims to implement world-class operational standards, improve efficiency, and support talent development at Shanghai's smart cargo terminal.
The facility integrates 5G, artificial intelligence, and big data to facilitate automated cargo handling, improve security, and provide real-time tracking of personnel, goods, and equipment.

With Shanghai's air cargo throughput reaching around 4.2 million metric tons in 2024, ranking second worldwide, the terminal will strengthen Shanghai's competitive position and support resilient global supply chains.
