Shanghai airport service stations assist over 140,000 foreign travelers
Released:2024-12-23

Round-the-clock and one-stop service stations at Shanghai's two airports have assisted more than 140,000 foreign travelers over the past six months.

China currently offers visa-free entry to citizens of 38 countries holding ordinary passports. As the preferred destination in China, Shanghai has welcomed over 4 million foreign visitors as of Nov 30 this year, twice the number from the same period last year, ranking first among the nation's airports.

The stations are situated at Terminals 1 and 2 of Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Terminal 1 of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

Staff at the stations provide payment, tourism, communication, and transportation services for travelers right outside international arrival doors.

Over the past six months, the stations have received more than 400 handwritten thank-you letters in various languages. Many travelers used pinyin or imitated Chinese characters to express their gratitude.

Tang Jie, one of the staff members, not only assists travelers with payment issues but also creates guides about the surrounding facilities, hotels, and transportation in his spare time.

He said that this job gives him a sense of accomplishment and makes him feel connected to the world.
